Burns in July

On the 21st of July , our members and guests donned their kilts and tartan sashes and came together to celebrate the life and work of Scotland’s national poet, Robert Burns. What an extraordinary night it turned out to be—the very first inaugural Burns in July.

The evening engaged all senses. Members were met with a laneway of light from the Rabbie Burns-themed projector art display, and the hair-raising sounds of bagpipes accompanying their entrance.

The Supper was provided by the talented team at Funhouse Food Group led by Chef Ray Capaldi where member’s tasted some of the BEST flavors of Scotland, with an exceptional and meticulously planned 3-course meal.

A toast was raised to fellow Scot and member Dan Hall of Beer Distillery Tall Boy and Moose, and Scots family-owned winemaker Gala Estate, for the incredible supply of drinks to complement the celebrations. As conversation, banter, and whisky flowed our entertainment throughout the night was the talented Folk Music Peoples Choice nominee Graeme McColgan “The Scotsman”.

A big thanks goes to our Society members for also making the evenings Silent Charity Auction a great success. An array of fantastic and unique items were sold including, Dinner with Runrig’s Donnie Munro, 6 bagpipe lessons, 2 signed Scotland Rugby shirts, and a few bottles of fine Scottish Tonic Buckfast with a side of Bru! With over $8000 raised for our charity partner, My Name’5 Doddie Foundation, MND foundation in memory of Scots rugby legend Doddie Weir.

Until next year!
